In a creative twist for Mother’s Day, Sara Davies, star of Dragons’ Den, has turned a simple garden staple—pine cones—into a stunning, handmade gift. Sharing her crafting skills with her followers, Davies showcased the easy-to-follow DIY project on Instagram, encouraging others to repurpose pine cones they might have lying around their homes or gardens.
“Does anyone else have a bunch of pine cones just lying around in the garden or stashed from Christmas with no idea what to do with them? Well, let’s get crafting!” she said in her post.
In her tutorial, Davies demonstrates how to transform the pine cones into flower-like shapes using spray paint. She then arranges them into a heart-shaped wreath, enhanced with additional greenery. “I mean… come on, how amazing does that look?” she exclaims as she shows off the finished product.
While Davies opts for a heart-shaped wreath, she notes that the base could easily be cut into any shape, making it a versatile craft. “If you’re looking for a wreath with a bit of a different twist for the front door, this is perfect. I actually hung mine up inside the house,” she shared. “It’s really easy to make and, of course, it’s all sustainable, using bits and pieces from the garden. How cute is that?”
Sara’s followers were quick to praise the project, with @kawaii_by_emma commenting, “Wow, that’s stunning and so unique,” and @wholeheartedhappiness adding, “That’s given me a great idea for Mother’s Day. It’s super cute.”
Sara’s creativity doesn’t stop there—her recent projects, like a 3D photo frame and a beautiful vase made from a wine bottle, have also garnered plenty of love. Fans are eagerly anticipating what she’ll craft next.
This charming Mother’s Day gift idea not only celebrates sustainability but also highlights the beauty of handmade, personal gifts, making it the perfect way to show appreciation for mothers this year.
